HRI Lodging Names John Cario VP/GM Over Mixed Use Properties in Historic Buildings
NEW ORLEANS, LA - March 13, 2014 - Richmond hotel management veteran John Cario has been named vice president/general manager for HRI Lodging, with direct oversight of the Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown/Miller & Rhoads and Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown/King Edward, announced Gary Gutierrez, president of HRI Lodging.
Cario joined HRI Lodging in March 2010 as general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown, where he successfully transitioned the operation to a market leader and consistently exceeded all performance benchmarks.
Prior to joining the company, Cario spent more than 30 years successfully managing a number of hotels under the Hilton, Promus and Wyndham brands and worked in a number of management capacities in Richmond-area hotels. During his time with Wyndham, he opened or operated seven hotels in Chicago, Nashville, Maryland and Arizona, with his Chicago-Oakbrook Terrace Wyndham receiving “Best New Hotel Award” in 1996.

Cario graduated from James Madison University in Harrisburg, Va. He is a past board member of the Richmond Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau and currently serves on the Hilton Garden Inn General Manager Advisory Council.
