Richard Green, VP of Association Sales & Industry Relations to Retire from Marriott International

Bethesda, MD - December 9, 2013 - After 26 years with Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR), Richard Green, vice president of association sales & industry relations, will retire at the end of the year. As a Marriott sales leader, Green is credited for building deep and trusting client relationships that resulted in strong customer preference across the company's portfolio of brands. He is highly regarded as a strong customer advocate for the association meetings industry.

Green's distinguished career includes service on a number of key industry boards and committees, including the ASAE Board of Directors, on which he currently serves, and PCMA Board of Directors. He has chaired The Destination Marketing Association International Foundation, served on the Boards of the AMC Institute, The Exhibition Industry Foundation, The Center for Association Leadership and chaired The ASAE Foundation Board. Green also was the first Commissioner for the CIC's Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX).

In 1995, he was honored by ASAE when he became an ASAE Fellow, one of only 90 non-association executives in the country to earn this recognition. In 2004, PCMA honored him with their Professional Achievement Award, and in 2006, ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership awarded him their Academy of Leaders Award, their highest award for a non-association professional.

Green began his career with Marriott while attending the University of Denver's School of Hotel & Restaurant Management, as a front desk clerk at the Denver Marriott Southeast. Over the years he has held a variety of sales leadership positions including director of association sales at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis and national account executive with Marriott's National Group Accounts Organization.
