Walter Brindell Appointed GM for Park Hyatt New York

CHICAGO - August 21, 2013 - Walter Brindell has been named the General Manager of the highly anticipated Park Hyatt New York, which is expected to open in mid-2014 and serve as the brand's flagship property.

Brindell, who has a distinguished 27-year career with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, has been an ambassador for the Park Hyatt brand since 2004. Brindell served as the General Manager of Park Hyatt San Francisco, and as Vice President of Rooms for North America at Hyatt's corporate headquarters in Chicago before he was named General Manager of Park Hyatt Washington and Area Vice President overseeing all Park Hyatt hotels in North America. As General Manager of Park Hyatt Washington, Brindell was awarded Hyatt's General Manager of the Year in 2011. In this same year, he transitioned to the dual role of Park Hyatt Chicago General Manager and Area Vice President.

Brindell's exemplary leadership has garnered Park Hyatt several notable industry and consumer awards, most recently at Park Hyatt Chicago, including: Conde Nast Traveler, “Gold List - World's Best Places to Stay;” Travel + Leisure, “World's Best Hotels;” US News and World Reports, “Best Hotels in the US;” Crain's Chicago, “Best New Restaurants for Business” for NoMi Chicago; and Chicago Tribune's Top Workplaces among others.

Throughout his career, Brindell has been an engaged community leader in the cities where he has worked and lived. While in Chicago, Brindell served on the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Partner Council for Greater North Michigan Avenue Association. He was a supporter of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Art Institute. Additionally, he was on the board for PAWs, a non-profit animal rescue in Chicago and is an active promoter for Washington Animal Rescue in the District of Columbia. He plans to become a local supporter for animal rights in New York.

Brindell, a native of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and earned a BA in Journalism and Advertising. Brindell is an active alumnus of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and resides with his partner and two dogs in Manhattan.
