Jon Crellin Named GM, Fairmont Hamilton Princess
BERMUDA, October 5, 2006. Norman Mastalir, managing director, Bermuda and general manager at the Fairmont Southampton, announced the appointment of Jonathan Crellin to general manager of the historic Fairmont Hamilton Princess, effective October 23, 2006. In this role, Mr. Crellin will manage the operation of this 410 room historic property, known as the 'Pink Palace.'

'His background in marketing and operations at historic properties will provide the strategic direction to make this landmark hotel a tremendous success and one of the flagships for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. We are looking forward to welcoming him to the island.'
Mr. Crellin brings more than 20 years of experience to this position, including 10 years at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Prior to his appointment as general manager at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, Mr. Crellin was the hotel manager, overseeing the operation of the rooms division, as well as the sales and marketing functions. In September 1996, Mr. Crellin joined the Fairmont Copley Plaza as director of sales and marketing, managing all aspects of sales, including banquets, catering, conference services, public relations and advertising.
Before joining Fairmont, Mr. Crellin was the director of sales and marketing at the Omni Parker House, an historic hotel in downtown Boston.
During Mr. Crellin's tenure at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, he was awarded the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts '2000 Innovation Award, Learning and Development' for the Rooms Division Self Directed Learning Program. In 1998 the Massachusetts Lodging Association presented him with the 'Star of the Industry, Outstanding Manager of the Year' award and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International presented him its 'Creative Leadership Award.' Through Mr. Crellin's innovative leadership, the Fairmont Copley Plaza has received the Massachusetts Lodging Association's Guest Relations Program Award in both 2004 and 2005 for its Canine Ambassador and Swan Boat Experience programs, respectively.
Active in the hospitality industry and local community, Mr. Crellin has been a Board Member for the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Massachusetts Lodging Association, Friends of Copley Square and Back Bay Association. He is a member of SKAL, Boston Chapter, and has been co-chair of the annual United Way of Massachusetts Bay Hotel Tag Sale and on the host committee for Presidents at Pops.
Mr. Crellin is committed to hospitality education and a member of the UMASS Amherst Hospitality and Tourism Management Program Advisory Board. Mr. Crellin has been a guest lecturer at University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Boston University, Boston College, Johnson & Wales University and Bentley College. In addition, Mr. Crellin has presented programs on service and marketing to New England HSMAI, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, The Massachusetts Lodging Association and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Mr. Crellin holds a B.S. degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration with a minor in Economics, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
