Millennium Biltmore, Los Angless, Adds New Members to Its Sales Team and Catering-Events Team

LOS ANGELES, CA, August 30, 2005. The historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles, has announced the addition of five sales managers to its sales team. Kathy Markarian was named associate director of sales; while Georgina Zizzo, Scott Robbins, Poleng Hong, and Michael Markarians have been appointed sales managers. Frances Liou also joins the hotel as catering and events manager.

"We have a diverse group of talented individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge and sales experience to the Millennium Biltmore Hotel," said LuAnn Sudarich, director of sales and marketing. "We are already reaping the benefits of their expertise and we are confident that our business will continue to grow."

Kathy Markarian has returned to the Millennium Biltmore as associate director of sales and will be responsible for group sales in the western states territory. Markarian originally joined the Biltmore team in 2000 as international sales manager and was subsequently promoted to international sales director before crossing over to the group market as associate director of sales. She has been promoting downtown Los Angeles for the past eight years and recently served as national sales manager for the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and sales manager for the Wilshire Grand Hotel.

Georgina Zizzo will be responsible for group sales in the northeast territory. Zizzo transferred to the Millennium Biltmore from sister property, Millennium Resort McCormick Ranch, Scottsdale, where she served as national sales manager. Prior to joining Millennium Hotels and Resorts, she held national sales manager positions at Leading Hotels of the World, and Preferred, Summit and Sterling Hotels in Chicago.

Scott Robbins will be responsible for group sales in the Midwest territory. Robbins started his career with US Airways where he was responsible for sales and operations management. Prior to joining the Millennium Biltmore, he served as sales manager for Westin Bonaventure Hotel and corporate sales manager for Renaissance Agoura Hills Hotel. Robbins is a graduate of West Virginia University and he holds a bachelor's degree with honors in International Relations.

Poleng Hong will be responsible for the entertainment and media market. Hong has over 10 years experience in television and has served as producer and assistant producer with various television affiliates in the United States and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining the Millennium Biltmore, she served as communications and public relations manager for Conrad Centennial Singapore. Hong holds a master of arts in the field of broadcasting and electronic communication from San Francisco State University.

Michael Markarians will be responsible for the hotel's business travel market. Markarians joins the Millennium Biltmore following 5 years at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort where he served as senior national sales manager and assisted in the re-branding of the property from a Sheraton to an independently owned hotel. Prior to the Pacific Palms, Markarians worked at the MGM Grand Las Vegas and Hyatt Hotels in sales and marketing as well as food and beverage positions.

Frances Liou joins the Millennium Biltmore's catering and events team with particular focus on managing and securing events from the Asian community including corporate meetings, social events, and fundraising and charity galas. Prior to joining the Millennium Biltmore, Liou served as catering coordinator and head of the StarMeeting Concierge at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites where she was responsible for organization of conventions, events and banquets for guests numbering 3,000 and upwards. She is a member of the International Special Events Society, Los Angeles Chapter and the American Hotel & Motel Association. Liou is a graduate of the Collins School of Hospitality Management at California State University.
