Rosewood Appoints Mario Candeias Managing Director of Las Ventanas Al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort
March 13, 2014 - Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® is pleased to announce that Mário Candeias has been appointed Managing Director of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. In his new role, Mr. Candeias will oversee all areas of the legendary Five-Diamond property, including the resort's 83 luxury suites and villas, three signature restaurants and spa.
Mr. Candeias joins Las Ventanas al Paraíso with over 22 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry. Most recently, he spent two years with Pestana Hotels & Resorts, the preeminent hotel company in Portugal and one of the largest in the world, where, as Director of Operations, he launched Pestana LUXURY Hotels, the brand's new luxury hotel division. Prior to that, he was Cluster Manager for Pestana's Leading Hotels of the World® and for Pestana Hotels & Resorts in the Greater Lisbon area.

Mr. Candeias has also served as General Manager for several upscale Portuguese properties including the Hotel Tivoli Victoria, Banyan Tree Spa & The Residences at Victoria Clube de Golfe, Algarve. Candeias holds a bachelor's degree in hospitality and tourism management from HotelSchool Algarve and an MBA with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve. He has also completed advanced hospitality management programs at Cornell University and Ecole Hotellière de Lausanne in Switzerland, as well as corporate finance at Harvard Business School and INSEAD in Paris. Candeias currently resides in Los Cabos, Mexico with his wife Paula, who is also an hotelier, and their three sons.
