Regent Bali Names Jamal Hussain as GM & Rene Mayer as DoSM

Bali, Indonesia - December 30, 2013 - Regent Bali, the all-suite and villa resort in the tranquil area of Sanur, welcomes Mr. Jamal Hussain as the assistant vice president and general manager, and Mr. Rene Mayer as the director of sales and marketing.

Mr. Hussain comes to the Regent Bali from Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, where he held senior positions in Maldives, Bintan, Singapore and Bali. Mr. Hussain's resume includes tenures with prestigious properties located in Europe and Asia, and brings with him a wealth of 36 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Some of these properties include: Hilton Vienna, Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Grand Hyatt Taipei, Peninsula Hong Kong, privately owned Palace of The Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Banyan Tree properties in Maldives, Bintan and Bali.

Mr. Hussain graduated with a diploma in tourism & hotel management from Schloss Klesheim in Salzburg, Austria, and started his career in the hospitality industry with Hilton Vienna, Austria. Having begun his career in food and beverage, Mr. Hussain worked his way up to the position of general manager at Palace of the Golden Horses, Malaysia in 1997.

With years of valuable experience, Mr. Hussain had the opportunity to lead and be part of several opening teams for new hotels and resorts. He also played an integral role in obtaining awards and accolades for the properties that he led. Mr. Hussain added to his resume the Green Resort Award in 2007 by The President of Maldives to Banyan Tree and the Green Hotel Award in 2011 by the Indonesian Ministry to Banyan Tree Bintan. He also led his last property to achieve the prestigious "Indonesia Leading Luxury Resort 2012-2013" award.

Mr. Hussain joins the management team at Regent Bali including Mr. Rene Mayer, who was recently promoted to global director of sales at Regent Hotels & Resorts, and is currently the director of sales and marketing at Regent Bali. Prior to joining Regent, Mr. Mayer was director of sales and marketing at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, where he focused on the collective goals of the luxury hotel chain. Previously, Mayer served as director of global sales worldwide for Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, Austria and cluster director of sales for Hilton Mainz International, among others. Mr. Mayer holds his masters in hospitality management from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a business studies degree in economics, marketing and sales from VWA Frankfurt, Germany.
