Frederic Chretien Appointed GM of the 181-room Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa

HONOLULU, HAWAII - October 1, 2013 - Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger® Hotels and Resorts executive vice president and managing director, Asia-Pacific, is pleased to announce the appointment of Frederic Chretien as general manager of the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa, effective October 1, 2013. The property, which is currently undergoing an extensive renovation, is scheduled to open in December 2013.

Chretien, a French and Mauritian national with 30 years' experience in hotel and food and beverage operations, will report to William Visser, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts vice president of operations, Asia-Pacific.

Before joining Outrigger, Chretien was general manager of The Residence, Mauritius, for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with the InterContinental Hotel Group in France and five years with Sun International in the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean.

Chretien, who speaks French, English, German and Italian, is a graduate of the Paris Hotel School with a degree in hotel management.

Edmonstone said: "Frederic brings extensive experience of top-end hotel management in Mauritius to Outrigger. His leadership skills, local knowledge and food and beverage expertise will be a great asset to Outrigger as we establish our new property as one of the most desirable destination resorts in the Indian Ocean."

The Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa sits on the southwest coast of the Republic of Mauritius, located roughly 2,000 kilometers off the southeast coast of Africa. Just a 45-minute drive from the international airport and a similar distance from the capital of Port Louis, the resort is surrounded on three sides by the nature preserve of Bel Ombre. All 181 rooms face the ocean, offering views of the resort's white sand beach and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

When it reopens, the resort will have three swimming pools, a 1,800 square meter spa, three restaurants, and a children's club and pool. The renovated resort also will have an exclusive Club level of guest rooms and suites with all the personal touches that Club guests are accustomed to receiving.
