Atlantica Hotels International to Open the Radisson Hotel Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in January 2014

RIO DE JANEIRO - August 21, 2013 - Atlantica Hotels International today announced the signing of the Radisson Hotel Rio de Janeiro, scheduled to open January, 2014. The converted landmark beachfront hotel will offer 292 guestrooms and suites, and will be the eighth Radisson hotel in Brazil. Over the next five years, an investment of $5.5 in enhancements will be made to the hotel.

Located on the stunning seven mile Barra da Tijuca beach in the famous Barra region of Rio de Janeiro, the hotel will offer 292 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, two bars, a spa, gym, squash court and heated pool. The hotel also has 11,960 square feet of flexible meeting space. The property is seven miles from the Riocentro Convention Centre and has easy access to Galeão Internacional Airport.

The Barra region of Rio de Janeiro is famous for excellent bars, restaurants and shopping and close to major multinational offices such as Heineken, Merck, Shell Oil Company, Nokia, and Esso Oil.

Currently, Atlantica Hotels manages seven Radisson hotels: Barueri and São Paulo (SP), Aracaju (SE), Belem (PA), Curitiba (PR), Porto Alegre (RS) and Maceió (AL). The Radisson Hotel Marist Goiania, in Goiania, state capital of Goiás, is scheduled to open 2016.

The Park Suites ITC Faria Lima will be converted to the Radisson Hotel Vila Olimpia, in Vila Olimpia, in the southern area of São Paulo. An investment of $3.5 million will be made to bring the hotel to Radisson standards. With these two properties and the Radisson Barra Rio de Janeiro, there will be a total of ten Radisson hotels in Brazil.

Earlier this month, Atlantica Hotels announced the conversion of another luxury project for the Radisson brand in Porto Alegre, located in Bela Vista. The hotel, which has 132 rooms and suites, will undergo a $2 million renovation.

Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, with approximately 6.5 million inhabitants and nearly 12 million in the metropolitan area. It is Brazil's most known city abroad, the largest international tourism route in Brazil and the main tourist destination in Latin America. In 2012, the urban landscape of the city was considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
