Historic Marriott Saddle Brook, One of The First Marriott Hotels, Unveils Phase One of $15 Million Renovation
New Guest Rooms, Atrium, Function Spaces and Fitness Center Offer A Modern Look Paired With Personalized Services for Meetings and Business Travel
The 244-room Marriott Saddle Brook hotel has unveiled the first phase of a $15 million renovation, making the property one of the newest hotel products in this region of New Jersey. The historic hotel, less than 20 miles from midtown Manhattan, completed Phase One of the renovation in July. With Phase One of the renovation complete, the hotel now features new guest rooms, meeting spaces, ballroom and fitness center.
The Marriott Saddle Brook renovation is both noteworthy and highly anticipated, as the hotel is the second oldest Marriott currently operating in the system. Originally built in 1967, the updated design reflects both Marriott Saddle Brook's significance within the Marriott brand and the property's connection to the local area. The hotel's redesign was handled by hospitality interior design firm DiLeonardo.
"A new chapter for our historic hotel has begun as we proudly showcase a revitalized, contemporary look in our guest rooms, function and meeting spaces. Phase One of our renovation catapults us to the top of the consideration set for our corporate and business guests seeking the convenience of a modern hotel in the metropolitan area, with signature amenities that cater to this segment of traveler," noted Alejandro Cardona, General Manager of Marriott Saddle Brook.
Mr. Cardona added, "Adding to the excitement of our almost 12,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor function space, our newly built Atrium will be a sought-after location, especially for events around the Saddle Brook region. This is a bright new oasis for the hundreds of social events, weddings and meetings we host each year."
A Revitalized New Look for Marriott Saddle Brook
Throughout the hotel, the redesign draws inspiration from the distinct look of the exterior, the robust three-dimensional massing, the eye-catching grid façade and the undulating floor plates. Elements of the redesign in public spaces and guest rooms integrate geometric elements with features such as strong guiding lines and intersecting patterns. Interesting versions of these patterns can be seen in the guest room artwork, a nod to the geometry and light reflection in the building's architecture.
The variety of reflections and transparency within the lobby give a nod to the natural surroundings captured by the building's glazing, which creates an ever-changing display of light and color. This dynamic interplay of light and geometric form offers singular perspectives and an immersive experience, as guests will notice during the arrival and check-in experience.
The new look of the hotel begins upon arrival at the property, as the exterior has been painted in a color palette of slate gray and neutral tones. A full refurbishment of the parking lot incorporates refreshed landscaping with trees, shrubs and flowering plants.
Guest Rooms and Fitness Center Revamped
All 244 guest rooms, including three suites, have been completely redesigned. The new guest rooms feature a soft, warm color palette while modern furnishings provide functional comfort. Decor elements incorporate the hotel's urban roots and a sense of place, with headboard art that evokes the muted glow of sunset and artwork with patterns inspired by its geometric exterior.
The spacious desk area makes remote working seamless, with many rooms featuring views of scenic Bergen County. Guest rooms have a full array of amenities available, such as high-speed wi-fi; televisions with premium channels and app streaming services; plush robes and slippers; coffee/tea maker; access to the fitness center and more.
The completely refurbished fitness center, with upgraded flooring and walls, is located on the first floor and open 24/7 for the convenience of guests. Newly installed state-of-the-art equipment includes elliptical machines, exercise bikes, weight machines, free weights and more. Complimentary headphones, filtered water, bottled water, fruit and towels are available.
Newly Built Atrium and Renewed Meeting Spaces
The Marriott Saddle Brook is a hub for business meetings, events and social gatherings. The 7,200 square feet of completely redesigned indoor gathering spaces includes six meeting rooms named after nearby counties in New Jersey and the 300-guest Grand Ballroom. An additional 4,700 square feet of seasonal outdoor space is flexible for a variety of events. With nearly 12,000 square feet of flexible event space, the options are endless.
The newly built Atrium streams in natural light, with a carpet pattern and color scheme inspired by the blue tones and the sky above, as seen through glass ceiling panels. This space, which was formerly the pool area, is ideal for business lunches, social events, weddings, parties and more. Marriott Certified Wedding Planners are available for a host of wedding planning services from overall planning to detailed execution, including ethnic and military wedding celebrations.
Audio-visual equipment, event supplies, custom catering and the convenience of the Marriott Meeting Services app are just some of the meeting services provided by the team.
Looking Ahead: Phase Two Renovations in 2025
The renovation unveiling marks Phase One of a two-phase complete renewal of the hotel. Phase Two will encompass a rebuild of the Marriott M Club, a new restaurant and a recreation of the Greatroom lobby space. Scheduled to be completed in early 2025, the hotel will then showcase a top-to-bottom new product.
