Grande Dame of St Moritz Gets a Ffresh Look

. January 09, 2013

January 9, 2013 - Whoever said an old gal can't learn new tricks has never met Badrutt's Palace Hotel. The historic and renowned Grande Dame of St Moritz has completed $7.7 million US (CHF 7 million) in renovations on its seventh and eighth floors. Working exclusively with local companies, Badrutt's Palace has updated each of the 28 rooms with contemporary interior design and the latest technology. The legendary hotel has invested some 145 million Swiss Francs over the last 10 years, reinforcing its guiding philosophy of “Reaching new heights."

Using high quality materials and classically styled fine textiles, the newly renovated rooms guarantee the comfort and luxury synonymous with this prestigious five-star hotel. Elegant walnut parquet flooring and a calming palette of green and beige hues create a soothing atmosphere. The bathrooms have an ultra modern Geberit toilet integrated with shower function and warm air-dryer, and a wet-room style shower with glass door flush with the floor, so guests can quite happily splash about as in a standard bathtub. Additional highlights in some of the rooms are an inbuilt Ad Notam mirror TV, and practical little night-lights to guide guests from bedside to bathroom if they wake during the night.

The newly renovated rooms now offer the technological comforts savvy travelers have come to rely on. Guests can recharge all their electronic gadgets with ease at the media hub and connect from the TV to an iPhone. Movies can be downloaded from the Internet with ease, thanks to complimentary Wi-Fi, and then enjoyed on an LED flat screen. Additionally, all renovated rooms now come equipped with a PlayStation 3 console to entertain guests of all ages.

Keeping with the theme of merging traditional and contemporary, Badrutt's Palace has created a package for the 2012/2013-winter season. Those who book the Tradition Meets Lifestyle package receive three nights in a Grand Deluxe Room, an extensive breakfast buffet, three evening meals in the elegant Le Restaurant, and a champagne afternoon tea in the Le Grand Hall. A hotel tour provides a look back at the hotel's rich history, including its famous guests such as Marlene Dietrich and Alfred Hitchcock. Inside knowledge can be extended with Badrutt's Palace History Book as well as a trip in the Rolls Royce to St. Moritz's Reference and Records Library. Additional incentives include a $210 US (CHF 200) wellness voucher and a ski pass valid for the whole region. Rates for the package start at $4,632 US (CHF 4,230) in medium season and $4,796 US (CHF 4,380) in high season.
