New Fake Bill Detector Allows Businesses To Spot Counterfeit Cash
LOS ANGELES, CA, July 19, 2005. Even though counterfeiters can now create near perfect U.S. money, Matsumura's detector can find it in less than a second.
Despite the use of more sophisticated counterfeit printing techniques, Matsumura's new EXC-5700 bill detector scans U.S. currency in about 0.7 seconds with near-perfect detection rate of 99.999 percent, says Edgar Perez, president of Matsumura Technology, American distributor of the Japanese machine.
"That makes it the world's highest quality counterfeit bill detector," Perez said. "The EXC-7500 looks at 76 separate points, detecting counterfeit currency that is virtually undetectable by traditional methods. More importantly we believe detection equipment should be upgradeable and updated frequently to stay one step ahead of the counterfeiters."
This new detector retails at about $1,895 is small and fast enough for use in banks, retailers, casinos, government agencies and those industries where counterfeit money is most likely passed, Perez said.
Despite current redesigns of U.S. currency were instituted to make it more difficult for counterfeiters, the U.S. Secret Service estimates that more than $43 million in counterfeit money was confiscated last year, up 15 percent over 2003.
"The EXC-5700 is easy to use and has saved our bank thousands of dollars," said S. Yonekura, Director for the Currency Exchange Bank in Tokyo. "It works faster and more accurately than any detection device we've used before."
The EXC-5700 checks each denomination for authenticity including both the old and the new 20's, 50's and is ready to detect counterfeit versions of the new generation $100 bill scheduled for release later this year. In addition, both detectors can be upgraded to detect any new counterfeits introduced, Perez said.
For foreign currency, Matsumura also distributes the larger upgradeable XC-6700 model which retails at $4,600. It provides the flexibility of scanning up to four different kinds of currency with a maximum recognition ratio and is also a bill counter.
