Shaner Names Steven Gardiner GM Crowne Plaza Cromwell CT
STATE COLLEGE, PA, March 18, 2008. Shaner Hotel Group announced a new addition to the Crowne Plaza Cromwell management team, as well as the return of an old friend, who has been part of the Cromwell community for nearly half a century.
Crowne Plaza Cromwell was recently joined by Steven Gardiner, who has worked in the hospitality industry for twenty years. Gardiner, who will bring his knowledge of intimate sophistication to the Crowne Plaza family as General Manager, has had tremendous success in the past creating an atmosphere of ease and trust among his clientele. In addition to Gardiner's background working with Classic Hotels of Connecticut, Interstate Hotels Corporation, ITT Sheraton and Tishman Hotel Corporation, his record as the former President of Connecticut Lodging Association speaks to his commitment to serving the community, along with his guests.
"We look forward to Steve's experience, strong sales background, and knowledge of the Connecticut market to help lead the Cromwell property toward achieving its fullest potential," said J.B. Griffin, Chief Financial Officer of Shaner Hotels.
The four-floor, 215-room Crowne Plaza Cromwell is hoping that Gardiner will help put the final touches on the 5-million-dollar renovation completed last year. After nearly half a century of historic hospitality, Shaner Hotel Corporation bought the property in hopes of improving tourism in Cromwell, as well as drawing back visitors and students from years past who remember the Lord Cromwell Motor Inn.
Lord Cromwell, a prominent figure in colonial-era central Connecticut, has also returned via a brand new ad campaign. The television spots, as well as the internet and print promotions are aimed at re-capturing a time when the word "hospitality" was more than just a term, a time when hospitality meant "quality," "family" and "respect." Lord Cromwell and the staff of Crowne Plaza are inviting guests to "Discover where central Connecticut hospitality began," and to experience "A new generation in hospitality."
Crowne Plaza and Shaner agree that the hotel's goal should be to preserve the rich history of the community, while incorporating the comfort and tranquility of suburban Connecticut with modern and accessible facilities such as a state of the art Fitness Center, Heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi, and high-speed wireless internet. Though the hotel's improvements and amenities are major assets, the location could quite possibly be its strongest selling point. Perfectly situated between Interstate 91 and Route 9, with access to numerous attractions, including Essex Steam Train & Riverboat and Six Flags New England, the Cromwell property is the perfect blend of old and new; ideal for families who want a "small town" experience, yet close enough to Hartford for any guest or business planning a conference.
The hotel and its staff are striving to create and maintain a relaxed atmosphere, where every guest becomes part of the Crowne Plaza family, and hope that the "Unforgettable service," will leave a lasting impression for generations to come.
