Marcus Assumes Management of Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee
Relationship leverages existing golf course and hotel management experience
OCTOBER 4, 2006. Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS) today announced it has signed an agreement to manage Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee, Wis., effective today. Marcus Hotels and Resorts currently owns or manages 15 properties, including the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wis., a full-service resort with two championship golf courses. Brynwood Country Club has an 18-hole golf course, four tennis courts, a fitness center, swimming pool and banquet facilities.
'This is an excellent opportunity for us to extend our capabilities into managing a private country club. Brynwood is a good fit for us because of our experience in managing the golf courses at the Grand Geneva, and the similarity between the other amenities the club offers and our existing hotel properties,' said Bill Otto, president of Marcus Hotels and Resorts.
'Since it opened in 1929, Brynwood has been one of the leading country clubs in the greater Milwaukee area. The golf course is both picturesque and challenging, with tight fairways, undulating greens and strategically placed water hazards. The clubhouse provides a beautiful setting for special events, weddings and private parties. An added benefit to the relationship is the ability we now have to make country club golf and banquet facilities available for meeting planners and guests at our three downtown Milwaukee hotels during the summer,' said Otto.
'In addition to our golf course management expertise, we believe our experience in professionally managing food and beverage facilities and conference services will add value to the Brynwood operation,' said Otto.
Otto said the Brynwood agreement increases the company's number of managed properties to seven. Brynwood Country Club is located at 6200 W. Good Hope Road in Milwaukee.
