Green Bay, WI - June 17, 2014 - Plans for restoring the historic Hotel Northland continue to unfold with the announcement of an expanded development team. Frantz Community Investors (FCI) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, chosen by the city to renovate the 90-year-old Northland, has partnered with KPH Construction to co-develop the property at 304 North Adams Street in downtown Green Bay.

Mike Frantz, president of FCI said, “We're pleased to join forces with Keith P. Harenda who's firm KPH will serve as our general contractor.” Founded in 1999, KPH Construction has extensive experience with historic restoration including such projects as the Federal Courthouse in Milwaukee. KPH's environmental division has completed Phase 1 Environmental, begun Phase 2 and is working closely with Kahler Slater and Preservation Design Works to complete Part II of the Historic Preservation Certification Application to the National Park Service. Green Bay architects Berners-Schober Associates and hospitality interior design firm The Gettys Group, round out the Hotel Northland design team. The ten-story Tudor Revival building by famed hotel architect Herbert W. Tullgren was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 30, 2013.

Hotel Northland will be designed as a destination for travelers and locals alike. Intended to be the city's only four-star boutique hotel, the property will be the center of Green Bay's downtown social scene with a bar, restaurant and entertainment venue, as well as a spa and private club. “With a storied past, Hotel Northland will marry historic architecture with classic contemporary finishes,” said Frantz, “We intend to energize downtown with a hotel that serves today's modern business and leisure traveler and programming that invigorates a property built in 1924.”

To fully develop the branding, Hotel Northland's General Manager Dennis Doucette also announced the team has hired Company B Brand Marketing of Milwaukee, a firm specializing in independent hotels. “Marketing Hotel Northland will hinge on the strength of our history and relevance to today's traveler,” said Doucette. “We are excited to be developing concepts for the hotel, Gridiron Tavern, Jazzmine's restaurant with live entertainment, the spa and private club - all of which will be designed and programmed to attract visitors and appeal to local residents to fully transform downtown Green Bay.” Company B will manage the overall branding, public relations and ongoing marketing of Hotel Northland.

“We're pleased to be part of restoring the grandeur of this hotel and reinterpreting that history into a property that appeals to the next generation,” said Harenda. "The intent is to hire local contractors as part of the construction of Hotel Northland. KPH has a long-standing track record of working with good quality local subcontractors throughout the Midwest."

“FCI was founded to make a difference in the communities we serve,” said Steve Frantz, Hotel Northland's Asset Manager and Vice President of Sales. “This storied property provides us that catalyst to restore both vitality and history in Green Bay and give a treasured hotel back to this city.”
