Stephen Bilby Joins the 213-key Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas as DOSM

SAN ANTONIO, TX - June 6, 2014 - Stephen Bilby brings more than two decades of hospitality experience to his new role as Director of Sales and Marketing to Valencia Group's Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. Bilby's skill at leading and managing teams to reach revenue goals was key in his hire. Hotel Valencia Riverwalk opened in 2003 and is San Antonio's premier downtown hotel. The property is a 213-room contemporary luxury hotel with 7,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space. The hotel is proud of the highly acclaimed Citrus Restaurant and Terrace that overlooks the historic River Walk and the ultra sleek V Bar that was voted Best Hotel Bar by San Antonio Magazine.

"My desire is to see the entire Hotel Valencia team succeed. If the team is successful, the property will be too," said Bilby. "Delivering a quality experience to all guests will keep the Hotel Valencia top of mind when people choose a place to stay in San Antonio.

Prior to joining Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, Bilby started his hospitality career at the Hilton Hotel San Antonio as the Business Travel Manager. He went from there to the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau where he led Corporate Sales efforts for the city into the vital Northeast area of the United States with a focus on New York/New Jersey and became the Associate Director of Sales. Bilby soon became the Director of Sales for The RK Group, the caterer at the San Antonio Convention Center. In that position he lead a catering sales team that tripled the revenue in three years. After opening the RK office in Phoenix, Bilby came back to San Antonio where he re-entered on the Hotel side with HEI Hotels and Resorts at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk Hotel and then moved over as Senior Sales Manager at the Omni La Mansión del Rio/Mokara Hotel.

Bilby holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism, Parks and Marketing from Texas A&M University.

He believes in becoming part of the community and volunteers with the Special Olympics and the 100 Club of San Antonio.

A zeal for life is apparent outside the office. Bilby has completed two full Ironman competitions: Idaho 2009 and Arizona 2011. He is married with two children, Addyson and Ryder.
