SCOTTSDALE, AZ - May 8, 2014 - The Courtyard Scottsdale Salt River has appointed a veteran Marriott general manager to take the LEED-certified hotel to new heights of customer service. Ann Cvelich has accepted the lead position at the Scottsdale hotel and will begin her new job immediately, said Norm Long, area director for Marriott International.

"We are very pleased that Ann will be overseeing the management and continued success of the Salt River Courtyard hotel," said Vince Lujan, CEO of Salt River Devco, the hotel's owner. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and proven management skills with her."

Cvelich began her career with the company in 1981 at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. She was named dual general manager of the Springhill Suites Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall and TownePlace Suites Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall in 2001. She became the general manager at the Courtyard Scottsdale Old Town beginning in 2002, and awards soon followed. In her time as the leader of that hotel, she was honored in 2003 as Western Region Courtyard General Manager of the Year and received numerous awards for owner relations (2009, 2011 and 2012) and sales excellence (2009, 2010 and 2011).

Cvelich inherits a seasoned staff at the first Courtyard-branded hotel built on tribal lands in the United States. The hotel, which opened in 2012, features some of Courtyard's signature elements, including The Bistro - Eat. Drink. Connect. in a state-of-the-art lobby with a GoBoard, welcome pedestals and media pods. Visitors will appreciate complimentary high-speed Internet access as well as plenty of comfortable spaces to gather, socialize, eat, drink and sleep during their stays at the Salt River Devco-owned hotel.

The hotel is in the north Phoenix metro area and close to downtown Scottsdale and Old Town. Visitors to the hotel in Scottsdale, AZ, can try their luck at the Talking Stick Casino or take in some of the area's fine art galleries.
