. March 25, 2014

SAN FRANCISCO - MARCH 25, 2014 - Leonard Czarnecki brings over two decades of hospitality leadership to his new position as General Manager at The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa, a Fairmont Managed Hotel.

In his previous senior management roles with international hotel companies, including Hilton, Waldorf-Astoria and Renaissance, he developed operational standards and was pivotal in the development and implementation of strategic planning, revenue management and service excellence. Having operated premier hotels throughout North America, Leonard brings keen insight into the services and amenities most valued by discerning travelers.

Most recently, Leonard served as General Manager at sister property, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Bermuda. During his tenure, he launched a $70 million renovation and subsequently repositioned the historic property while also serving as President of the Bermuda Hotel Association. Immediately prior, Leonard served as General Manager at The Fairmont Pittsburgh, where he helped earn the hotel's LEED® Gold-Level certification. Other Fairmont posts include executive stints at The Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston, and The Plaza, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in New York City.

"I am delighted to be in the Bay Area and join The Claremont team at this exciting time - I look forward to begin work on the multi-million dollar capital investment project to update the hotel's facilities and enhance the Claremont's stunning architecture, while preserving and protecting the character and local charm of the landmark property," shares Mr. Czarnecki.

Thomas Klein, Regional Vice-President and General Manager of The Fairmont San Francisco, adds "It is with great pleasure that I welcome Leonard to Northern California. His 20+ years of experience in the hospitality industry, proven track record at several prestigious Fairmont properties, and recognized leadership abilities are great contributions. I am confident that Mr. Czarnecki will guide the iconic East Bay resort to new heights of luxury and guest satisfaction. Once the revitalization work is complete, the hotel will join the company's Fairmont Hotels & Resorts portfolio, an unrivaled collection of hotels that includes other famed landmarks."

After obtaining a Bachelors degree in Hotel-Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University, Czarnecki embarked on a hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. He then held positions of increasing responsibility, before joining Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2004.

Leonard will reside in the East Bay and will soon be joined by his wife and three children. When not working, he enjoys spending time cycling and all things outdoors.

The Claremont joins six other Fairmont properties serving guests in California. They include The Fairmont San Francisco, The Fairmont San Jose, The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa,

The Fairmont Newport Beach, The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica and the Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square.
