94-room Verb Hotel is on Track to Open in Boston's Fenway Neighborhood in Summer 2014

Under Development by Samuels & Associates, Weiner Ventures and Spot-On Ventures; To Be Managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts

. March 21, 2014

Boston, MA - March 21, 2014 - The Verb, opening summer 2014, sees the dynamic reimagining of a classic mid-century motel, which will reconnect it with the rich musical and artistic roots of Boston's Fenway neighborhood. Building on the legacy that began when the Fenway Motor Hotel first opened its doors at 1271 Boylston Street in 1959, the unconventional 94-room hotel will seamlessly meld the best of Boston's past, with the vibrant, spirited culture of the modern-day Fenway neighborhood.

Samuels & Associates, the developers behind the project, are credited for many of Fenway's newest residential, retail and commercial spaces. In partnership with Weiner Ventures and Spot-On Ventures, developers of the Mandarin Oriental Boston, The Verb is Samuels' first hotel property.

"We saw a real opportunity to create something unique in this space, while respecting the independent spirit of the local community, building on the arts culture in Fenway and delivering real hospitality in a world that moves too fast," said Steve Samuels, Chairman and Principal of Samuels & Associates. "The Verb will be a distinctive destination and experience for locals, tourists and business travelers alike."

Robin Brown, principal of Spot-On Ventures and lead partner in overseeing The Verb architectural design and brand concept, announced that Crescent Hotels & Resorts has been selected as the Management Company for the hotel. Anna Gaffney will serve as the General Manager for the property. "Anna's experience with edgy, boutique hotels will provide the perfect leadership and guest service for this unique hotel experience," said Brown. "With The Verb, we will be introducing a concept that reflects the freshness, vitality and diversity of the Fenway community."

Key to The Verb's charm is its irreverent attitude that will be on showcase throughout the interiors, where stairway walls carry quirky statements and each guestroom tells a unique story. Rare music and pop-culture memorabilia from Boston's heritage - ranging from historic Boston Phoenix covers to photographs of musicians who performed locally or appeared on WFNX, Boston's famed classic rock station - will adorn public spaces. The works will remind visitors of the key role Boston has played as host to countless influential artistic, musical and cultural talents. The collection will be curated by the longtime Director of Special Projects for the Phoenix Media Group and an inveterate collector of rock and roll memorabilia, David Bieber and supported by former Boston Phoenix publisher, Stephen Mindich.

"The Verb reflects the energy, music and attitude that are at the heart of the Fenway neighborhood," said General Manager, Anna Gaffney. "The Verb's place in history, its experiences and subsequent stories to tell, make this a spot like no other."

Reservations for summer 2014 will be taken effective April 1, 2014 via THEVERBHOTEL.COM

The Verb will feature 94 guest rooms, all at an affordable luxe price point. An outdoor pool and surrounding pool deck give the property a unique edge and provides a fun, relaxed hangout in the heart of the city. A food and beverage partner will be announced in fall 2014, and in the interim, The Verb will offer signature cocktails and bar bites at the outdoor pool and in the lobby area.
