The Plasencia Group Expands Southwest Presence

. March 17, 2014

Tampa, FL - March 17, 2014 - Steve Thompson has joined The Plasencia Group as Vice President - Southwest Region and is based in Houston, Texas. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Southwest Region team handling full-service, select-service, boutique and resort property transactions, as well as consulting services for the company.

In the 25 years prior to joining The Plasencia Group, Mr. Thompson was engaged in the real estate valuation and consulting business. He earned the MAI appraisal designation in 1996 and has specialized in the hospitality sector since 1997. During the three years prior to joining The Plasencia Group, Mr. Thompson served as the managing director of RERC Hospitality, where he managed the company's national hospitality valuation and consulting practice. Before joining RERC Hospitality, Mr. Thompson managed valuation and consulting engagements for Cushman & Wakefield in the Texas / Louisiana region and for Pinnacle Advisory Group on a national basis for several years. Mr. Thompson has performed appraisals of all commercial property types, but specialized in hotels for RERC and for Bach Thoreen McDermott, based in Houston. His consulting experience with hospitality assets spans across all but a few of the states within the U.S., as well as Mexico.

"Given his tenure in the real estate industry, Steve is intimately familiar with dozens of markets. His relationships with institutional and individual owners of hotels and resorts across the United States are invaluable to our firm and to our clients and partners," said Lou Plasencia, Chairman and CEO of The Plasencia Group.

"For more than a decade," said Steve, "I had been interested in merging efforts with Robert Wiemer, who had been my closest contact on hotel investments. When the opportunity presented itself to join Robert and the other members of the Southwest Region team, the decision was simple. The firm's long-standing reputation of integrity, its collective knowledge of hotel-related real estate, its deep client relationships and its future growth direction merely reinforced that joining The Plasencia Group was the correct decision for me."

Mr. Thompson graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor's degree in Management.
