November 22, 2013 - The Somerset on Grace Bay, a five-star luxury resort on the world-famous beach on Turks and Caicos, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new General Manager Urmas Karner and the promotion of Clarissa Cox to Rooms Division Manager.

Karner was appointed by the Board of Directors and will oversee all areas of operations at the 53 villa and suite luxury resort. His career includes various management positions at high volume Manhattan hotels, golf clubs and private membership beach, boating and tennis facilities throughout the Greater New York Metro area. The Somerset on Grace Bay in Providenciales will be his first posting in the Caribbean.

“I'm extremely pleased to be joining the outstanding team at The Somerset on Grace Bay,” comments Urmas Karner, General Manager at The Somerset on Grace Bay. “To be affiliated with one of the world's best resorts, as recently recognized by Travel + Leisure, on one of the world's most magnificent beaches is an honor. It is both my mandate and goal to provide every one of our valued guests with an enduring memory of their stay in paradise.”

Cox has been on staff at The Somerset on Grace Bay since January 2010, initially as a Reservationist and later as Executive Administrator. As the Rooms Division Manager, she will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of the Front of House, including reception, concierge, airport greeting staff and bell desk, as well as the beach and Kids' Club activities. Cox, who grew up on Providenciales, has more than 8 years' experience in the hospitality industry and several hospitality certifications. She earned a Master's of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from Campbell University in North Carolina and Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality & Tourism Administration from North Carolina Central University in Durham.

“Clarissa richly deserves to join The Somerset's Executive Committee in this capacity,” adds Karner. “It is always gratifying to observe the growth of dedicated young hospitality professionals. We wish Clarissa every success in serving The Somerset's guests and staff.”
