Industry Professional John M. Dodson Appointed as GM of The VERVE-Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick

NATICK, MA - October 23, 2013 - Distinctive Hospitality Group (DHG), in conjunction with The VERVE-Crowne Plaza Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of John M. Dodson as the hotel's General Manager. With over 25 years of professional hospitality experience that both the South West and East Coast, Dodson brings with him an unparalleled ability to develop strategic growth opportunities for large hotel brands.

Upon entering the hospitality industry, Dodson acquired the position of General Manager with United Inns, Inc. in Santa Barbara, California, where he enjoyed nine successful years growing new business opportunities for the company before transitioning to Holiday Inn Worldwide. Here, he was responsible for the overall health and expansion of hotel locations in Minnesota, Michigan and Texas.

In the spring of 1994, Dodson landed the role of General Manager of a large hotel in Arlington, Texas, where he was responsible for efficiently running a 340 room operation and conference center that included over 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Before long, Dodson's successes spurred an uptick in responsibility, and he was assigned to the role of Regional Director, where he oversaw a portfolio of 13 properties in the metropolitan areas of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, and in Colorado, New Mexico, and Washington.

In 1999, Dodson joined Sunstone Investors, L.L.C. as a Regional Director for 12 distinct properties in three states under multiple brand affiliations, including: Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn. In 2001, Lane Hospitality plucked him from Sunstone and tasked him with transforming the former Hilton in Lake Placid, New York into High Peaks Resort, an upscale 4 Diamond Rated property. After more than a decade of acclaimed success with High Peaks Resort, Dodson moved on to become the General Manager of the Crowne Plaza hotel in Lexington, Kentucky. It was here that he first landed on the radar of Lou Carrier, President and CEO of DHG.

At The VERVE Crowne Plaza-Natick, Dodson will oversee all aspects of hospitality services and will work directly with the sales and marketing team to foster new business opportunities.

Dodson currently resides in Framingham with his wife Kelly. They have two daughters ages 24 and 28. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching baseball.
