Andaz 5th Avenue to Celebrate Fall in New York City Through Artists' Eyes

. October 04, 2013

New York - October 4, 2013 - Andaz 5th Avenue invites four Indiewalls artists to capture the best of fall in New York City from their creative perspective. This photographic journey will be uploaded in real time to the photo-sharing, social media channel,Instagram, October 1st through October 31st 2013.

As part of Andaz 5th Avenue's ongoing commitment to support local artists and share native culture, the property has a long-time relationship with Indiewalls - a program that pairs local artists with local businesses to exhibit artwork for sale. Select suites in the innovative Midtown hotel currently display The New York Pictures, a collection of photographs by local artists that capture a magical moment in time. The property wanted to extend this concept to bring these moments to a broader audience online.

“Fall is such a magical time in New York City and Andaz 5th Avenue is right in the center of it all,” said Cornelia Samara, General Manager of Andaz 5th Avenue. “We're excited to bring these moments to Instagram for all of our guests, past and future, through photos from these talented local artists.” The artists will post on the hotels's Instagram handle, @Andaz5th. Follow the Hashtag #AndazLovesFall to see the photographic journey unfold.

Meet the Artists

Lisa Futterman: Posting from October 1st - 7th

Futterman returned to the New York area in 2002 after spending eight years in London, England. In recent years, New York City has become a major influence on Lisa's work, providing a constant source of inspiration. Many of her images bring a fresh and unique perspective on often-photographed iconic subjects.

Liezl Zwarts: Posting from October 8th - 14th

Zwarts was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and pursued her career in London, Cape Town and presently in New York City. Her art career began as in-house photographer for a lifestyle magazine where she gained experience working in the fast-paced publishing industry. She attributes her artistic vision to her grandmother, a photographer from Namibia whose beautiful landscapes were the catalyst to Zwarts' passion, specifically in landscape and documentary photography.

Malcolm Brown: Posting from October 15th - 21st

Brown was born in Farmington, CT and lives in Brooklyn. He first pursued a career in strategic design and research consulting where he observed and analyzed how people live, work and play in space. He interpreted his findings into meaningful physical solutions; essentially composing people in space. In 2003, his travels to India and Malaysia served as a turning point in how he observes people creatively in both the built and natural environment.

Jay Wilson: Posting from October 22nd - 31st

Wilson resides in Fairfield County, CT, but his primary focus is finding a unique perspective on the people and places that make New York City special. He recently took first place in the professional photography division of the Beaux Arts competition sponsored by the League of Westchester Women's Clubs, and second place in the Wunderman Global Photography Competition for 2012.
