Marriott International recognizes hotel with leadership and community service honors

PENSACOLA, FL - July 12, 2013 - The TownePlace Suites by Marriott® Pensacola was recently honored with two national awards at the Marriott International General Managers' Conference, held in Orlando, Florida. General Manager Becky DeCesare was the recipient of the TownePlace Suites Hello! Award, and the hotel was presented with the Community Service Hotel of the Year. The winners were selected from over 200 TownePlace Suites hotels throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Becky DeCesare has served as the general manager of the TownePlace Suites Pensacola since its opening in February 2008. She was recently appointed opening general manager of McKibbon's second Pensacola hotel, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott® Pensacola , located at 487 Creighton Road. This new Pensacola hotel will open in August 2013. Becky's focus on customer service is the key to her success as a manager, and her passion for her guests and associates is apparent in every action. Becky's award presentation was preceded by a video testimonial from a frequent guest who provided a heartfelt congratulations and conveyed how Becky and her hotel associates felt like family to him, and attributed the hotel's warmth to her care and leadership.

The entire TownePlace Suites hotel team was honored as the Community Service Hotel of the Year. Hotel associates participated in a number of volunteer and fundraising efforts throughout the year, serving organizations such as Ronald McDonald House and Habitat for Humanity, but their biggest success was a stuffed animal fundraiser that they conducted for Children's Miracle Network and Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. Through donations and purchases of a small, stuffed dog called “JB”, the hotel team raised nearly $1,600 to purchase equipment for the hospital. In addition, the donated dogs were delivered to young hospital patients by the hotel team, bringing smiles to many young patients' faces.
