Ritz-Carlton, Denver Announces Arrival of New Executive Chef

April 30, 2013 - The Ritz-Carlton, Denver, along with General Manager, Steven Janicek, are pleased to announce Ruben Garcia as Executive Chef of its downtown property -- the first and only AAA Five-Diamond hotel in the Mile High City. Garcia will oversee all hotel culinary activities and operations, including the kitchen of ELWAY'S Downtown, In-Room Dining and the property's extensive banquet and catering offerings. Chef Garcia was most recently Executive Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe since the resort's December 2009 opening, which followed his time at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach in Miami.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Chef Ruben Garcia completed culinary school at the Culinary Institute of Louisiana. He began his professional career in New Orleans, at K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen and then moved on to Galatoirs Restaurant in the French Quarter. His path and partnership began with The Ritz-Carlton in the summer of August 2000. During his tenure with The Ritz-Carlton, Chef Ruben has held positions of Saucier, Restaurant Chef, Banquet Chef, and Executive Sous Chef, at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Louisiana, Georgia and Miami. In addition, he has lead and assisted in the opening of several Ritz-Carlton Hotels including New Orleans, Grand Cayman, Moscow and Lake Tahoe. Chef Garcia believes that having creativity, passion and discipline as an approach to cooking is a guaranteed formula to success in the industry. He encourages product sustainability and the use of ingredients that support local farms in our region. Garcia also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in executing Kosher catered events. Chef Ruben and his entire staff at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver look forward to further supporting community involvement and are proud to be involved in various culinary events intended to benefit the city such as Do at the Zoo, the annual June fundraiser for The Denver Zoo.
