Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront to be Rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton

. April 04, 2013

April 4, 2013 - Hilton Worldwide and Newport Group announced they will reopen the former Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront Hotel as a DoubleTree by Hilton in June 2013.

The hotel, for years a go-to destination for Atlantic Beach visitors, closed its doors in August 2011 following severe damage from Hurricane Irene. The property was acquired by Newport Group in December 2012, and is currently undergoing a $5 million renovation in preparation for its reopening as the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel this summer.

"This is an exciting time not only for Newport Group and DoubleTree by Hilton, but for the Atlantic Beach community, which has truly felt the economic impact of losing their only full-service beach-front hotel for nearly two years," says Marty Matfess, vice president of operations, Newport Group. "The announcement of the new hotel has been embraced both by leaders and members of this community who are eager to see the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel revitalize tourism and bring new employment opportunities to their dynamic beach town."

The expansive, property-wide renovation includes upgrades to the lobby and front desk areas and complete guest room makeovers to achieve a sophisticated, "beach modern" design direction. The hotel's popular restaurant, Molly's, will also reopen with an entirely fresh look and feel.

Starting May 1, the hotel will begin accepting applications on-site for all open positions, ranging from food service opportunities to hotel management positions. Inquiries about employment opportunities can be sent to [email protected].

"The charming Atlantic Beach community is an ideal fit for the DoubleTree by Hilton brand," says John Greenleaf global head DoubleTree by Hilton. "Together with our long-time partner, Newport Group, we look forward to meeting visitor's needs for an upscale, full-service hotel offering with the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel."

Situated directly on the beach, the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel is conveniently located to popular tourist destinations, including the Country Club of the Crystal Coast, Coral Bay Shopping Center, Morehead Plaza Shopping Center and North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

DoubleTree by Hilton currently offers the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Bern Riverfront, located approximately 32 miles from Atlantic Beach. The brand is built around a service culture which strives to Create A Rewarding Experience (CARE) for its guests. The experience starts with a warm and welcoming chocolate chip cookie and offers unique comforts and conveniences for guests to enjoy.
