Westin Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego Enters Final Phase of $25M Transformation

Unveils Newly Designed Meeting and Event Space

. March 22, 2012

San Diego, CA - March 21, 2012 - The Westin Gaslamp Quarter's property-wide renovation is one step closer to completion with the recent debut of the new, 5,940-square-foot San Diego Ballroom and adjoining 5,752-square-foot outdoor Garden Terrace on the hotel's 4th floor. The modern space elevates the typical ballroom look and experience with decorative finishes, state-of-the-art lighting, sound and rigging capabilities, boasting views of downtown San Diego.

“With a combined 11,600 square feet of brand new, modern event space to add to our multi-faceted venue options, we're looking forward to welcoming back past clients, accommodating new groups and expanding our social catering capabilities,” says Paul Rotunno, Westin Gaslamp Quarter's Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are confident that businesses, event planners, brides-to-be and families celebrating milestone events will discover that the ballroom and terrace are unique to San Diego and the downtown area and offer the perfect space for meetings, galas and celebrations of all kinds.”

In total, the Westin Gaslamp features approximately 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space spanning four floors, including the newly remodeled, 9,064-square-foot California Ballroom and eight breakout rooms on the 2nd floor, three large meeting rooms on the 3rd floor that can combine with a private outdoor patio and indoor foyer with secluded bathrooms and elevator access, and three meeting rooms located adjacent to the lobby on the hotel's first floor. Floor-to-ceiling enhancements, including new carpet, wall coverings, artwork and lighting were completed to the 2nd and 3rd floor spaces in fall of 2011 following the Westin Gaslamp's summer debut as the first Westin hotel in the nation to introduce the brand's new guest room design.

The new meeting spaces offer a contemporary, timeless sensibility with modern touches. Concise, linear qualities give the spaces an architectural feel that is softened with subtle design cues tied to the elements of nature. The spaces are further enhanced with eco-friendly materials such as LED lights, earth tones, windows and natural textures that bring the feel of the outdoors inside and top-of-the-line ergonomic furniture.

The Westin Gaslamp Quarter is in the final phase of its $25 million transformation to include a new arrival experience and the debut of Pinzimini, an Italian bistro-styled restaurant and bar to be open in May 2012.
