RIU Opens the All Inclusive Riu Touareg on the Island of Boavista, Cape Verde

Palma de Mallorca - May 9 2011 - RIU Hotels & Resorts yesterday opened the Riu Touareg, a beautiful 5 star 24 Hours All-inclusive hotel, located on the island of Boavista. The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cape Verde, Dr. Jose Maria Neves, as well as the engineer Jose María Veiga, Minister for Transport, Infrastrucutre and Maritime Economy, the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Energy, Dr. Humberto Santos de Brito, the President of the City Council Boavista, Dr. Jose Pinto Almeida, the Ambassador of Spain in Cape Verde, Mr. Jose Miguel Corvino Lafuente and Luis Riu, CEO of RIU Hotels & Resorts. Prominent personalities from the politic and economic fields, partners and friends attended the event as well.

Luis Riu, CEO of Riu Hotels & Resorts, stated during the ceremony: "We are very pleased to celebrate the opening of the Riu Touareg hotel in the presence of the highest authorities of the country. Following an investment of 120 million euros, the Riu Touareg has become the fifth hotel in Cape Verde as the Spanish hotel chain already operates two resorts on the Island of Sal and two on the Island of Boavista. The new hotel of 881 rooms, is the first RIU to feature three separate areas that meets the needs of our different types of clientele: "Adults Only", "Family & Children" and "Classic".

In the "Only Adults Zone", guests may enjoy several amenities including their own restaurant and swimming pool. The Family Zone features swimming pools and a multitude of areas and play grounds, and the "Classic" area offers the renowned traditional RIU service. The hotel presents a wide gastronomic offering in its main restaurant "Santo Antao" and its four specialty restaurants. The Gourmet Restaurant ""muhagh" will be exclusive for guests of the "Adults Only Zone". The hotel also offers a total of four bars and a nightclub called "Pacha".

In addition to the stunning white sand beach which is ideal for relaxing under the sun or enjoying all kinds of sports such as windsurfing, kayaking or snorkeling, the hotel features a swimming pool of over 1,000 square meters with integrated whirlpool and swim up bar, three saltwater pools and two children's pools. And for relaxation and beauty treatments, the Riu Touareg offers a complete Renova Spa, where guests can also enjoy the complimentary use of steam room and jacuzzi.
