San Juan Marriott Completes Renovations

. October 14, 2008

SAN JUAN, PR, January 24, 2007. The San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino has officially celebrated the completion of $35 million worth of renovations to the hotel with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Miss Universe, Zuleyka Rivera, was a featured guest and witness to the celebration. She partnered with the San Juan Marriott for a charity dinner that followed the ribbon cutting ceremony. "This is a project that has been in the works for the last 5 years, during which time it transitioned from a vision to the reality. Our metamorphosis began with the expansion and renovation of our Stellaris casino, followed by a makeover to the ballroom and meeting rooms, leading to the final element of this phase, which was the main tower," commented General Manager Hans Rohrbein, who presided over the evening's ceremony. The hotel shut down the main tower in June 2006 deciding that would be the quickest and most efficient way to modernize the structure's 402 rooms. The renovation introduced Marriott International's latest features in design, luxury bedding and state of the art technology. Marriott's new ReviveR bedding featuring 300-thread count sheets, down comforters, sheeted duvet covers, thicker mattresses with plush toppers and fluffier pillows were introduced. Lighter, more dynamic colors and textures were used in the rooms, providing a feeling of luxurious Caribbean elegance while catering to the cosmopolitan dynamic of the resort's guests. Completely renovated bathrooms now incorporate new design features including rain shower style heads and deep bathtubs with traditional comfort provided by color and textures.

High tech additions to the rooms offer ergonomically designed desks and desk chairs, wireless internet access in all rooms and public areas and 36" flat screen LCD televisions with High definition capabilities. Guests also now have the ability to connect their lap top to the television to work directly on the larger screen and the capability to connect iPods and other electronic devices to charge and play through the television sets.

Additionally, the resort's meeting space, ballrooms and casino underwent refurbishments in 2006 as well to help keep the resort up to date and in line with consumer demands.

"We take great pride in being part of this community and understand that our product is a reflection of what San Juan has to offer. These renovations are part of our continued efforts to maintain a quality image that demonstrates the quality of this city. This is only the beginning, because as we stand here today to commemorate the completion of these renovations, we are already planning to continue our efforts with a second phase slated to begin this summer," commented Rohrbein at the ribbon cutting ceremony that took place under the porte cochere outside the main entrance of the hotel Friday evening.

Renovations in 2007 will include updates to the remaining 123 rooms in the cabana wing, a new look for the La Vista Restaurant, a new outdoor lounge area and remodeling of the executive lounge.
