TUCSON, AZ - October 6, 2010 - Kimberly Van Amburg has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Sol Casinos. It was announced on Wednesday.

For the past three years, Van Amburg has served as the Assistant Attorney General responsible for gaming and regulatory issues for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.

“It is very rewarding working for the Tribe,'' Van Amburg said. “It is great to get to work every day with a committed group of professionals and to see how the income the casinos produce for the Tribe translates into services and educational programs for Tribal members. The Tribal members who work here are some of the most dedicated employees you will find anywhere.'' Sol Casinos CEO Wendell Long said Van Amburg is a “perfect fit and perfect person for Sol Casinos” in her new position. “Kim adds great strength to an already strong Sol Casinos team,'' said Long. “She has great knowledge and background in operational experience as we get ready for what we know will be a great future with the upcoming hotel, spa and conference center."

Van Amburg will have a variety of duties in her new position, including managing compliance, security and surveillance. She also will provide legal counsel to Sol Casinos.

“I am really looking forward to the expansion of the facilities with the hotel and conference center project,'' said Van Amburg, who has prior experience in the hotel industry. “One of the exciting things about this project is that it will be an upscale resort type experience, with a gorgeous pool and fantastic convention center space, that will really be unique in the market.'

Van Amburg is a 1999 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. She worked as an attorney in commercial litigation in Dallas before returning to Tucson to work for a local firm. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is a federally recognized tribe with more than 17,000 enrolled members. The reservation is located in southwest metropolitan Tucson. The Tribe owns and operates two casinos: Casino of the Sun and Casino Del Sol. Non-gaming enterprises include the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater, a 5,000-seat open-air concert venue, and the Del Sol Marketplace, which includes a gas station and car wash, convenience store and smoke shop. It is also the future home to Casino Del Sol Hotel, Spa & Conference Center, a 215-room, 161,000-square-foot facility that includes a meeting and convention center.
