Benchmark Appoints Guy Smalling Controller at Glen Cove
HOUSTON, TX, August 2, 2006. Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Guy Smalling as controller for Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center, located in Glen Cove, New York. Sean McLaughlin, general manager, made the announcement.
"It is with pleasure that I welcome Guy to Benchmark at Glen Cove Mansion," said Mr. McLaughlin. "He brings extensive experience in hospitality finance to his new role, as well as familiarity with the hotel, and we look forward to his active participation in the property's executive management team."
Mr. Smalling comes to his new role with a great deal of experience with Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center, having served as director of finance for the property when it was known as Harrison Conference House, prior to Benchmark assuming its management. Previous to this, Smalling served as executive vice president of finance for the Long Island Hospitality Group of Southampton, New York.
Guy Smalling has held the position of controller for the prestigious Cornell Club in Manhattan. He held the same position at the Sheraton in Smithtown, New York. Smalling was previously general manager and controller for the Best Western Winrock Hotel, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Strathmore Hotel of Holtsville, New York.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Smalling was employed in the financial services industry in positions of increasing responsibly. His first assignment out of college was as food & beverage controller for the Sheraton Smithtown.
Mr. Smalling is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in finance. He resides in Holbrook, New York.
