Tourism Australia Director Departs

CANBERA, AUstralia, August 3, 2996. The board of Tourism Australia has unanimously accepted the agreed separation of managing director, Scott Morrison, effective immediately. Chairman Tim Fischer thanked Mr Morrison for his efforts and energies as Managing Director.

Mr Geoff Buckley has been appointed Acting Managing Director of Tourism Australia. Mr Buckley is currently Director, Strategy and Research. The Board will now move to immediately begin the process for recruiting a new Managing Director.

Chairman Tim Fischer said "I encourage the best and brightest within and without the tourism industry to apply. With unprecedented levels of government funding, it's an exciting time as ever to be involved in tourism.

"The Board looks forward to continuing its excellent relationship with the Minister and the great staff of Tourism Australia. Our job is to attract planeloads of tourists to our fabulous shores. That is what we are solely focussed on."
