Smith Munro Named GM at Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside
TORONTO, Canada, December 4, 2006. Marriott Hotels of Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Smith Munro as general manager at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside. Effective December 11, 2006, Munro will oversee the repositioning of the hotel, including an immediate $20 million renovation project that is scheduled for completion in 2008.

Munro brings over 25 years of hotel industry experience to this new position at Marriott Hotels of Canada. Currently the general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, Munro is also the Chair of the Governance Committee for Tourism Vancouver and was president of Vancouver's Hotel Association.

In addition to guestrooms and suites, the 437-room Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside offers business and wedding facilities with over 18,000 square feet of meeting space. Situated in the trendy Coal Harbour district of Vancouver, the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside is located across the street from the 434-room Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown. Munro will work closely with staff and managers at the sister property in an effort to offer guests the best accommodations, services and amenities Marriott has to offer.
