NOVEMBER 22, 2006. Marc Langevin has been appointed general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, announced Simon Cooper, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. Langevin is a hotel executive with more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience. He will be responsible for operating the luxury oceanfront resort following an extensive $40 million renovation and enhancement project.

Previously, Mr. Langevin was resort manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, overseeing all operations of the resort including 13,000 square feet of meeting space and extensive programs. After Hurricane Ivan devastated Grand Cayman in September 2004, only a few months prior to the resort's originally scheduled opening date, Mr. Langevin took on the interim role of operations director for the resort developer, overseeing recovery efforts ranging from staff evacuations and housing for displaced employees to management of cleanup and reconstruction efforts.

Mr. Langevin began his hospitality career with Club Med in the 1980s. He then moved to Las Vegas where was involved in the opening of several hotels including Main Street Station Casino, Treasure Island at the Mirage, and Bellagio, before joining The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles as assistant food and beverage director and manager of the venerable Polo Lounge.

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, Mr. Langevin gained vast operations experience with Boykin Management Company, whose properties include the Embassy Suites, Double Tree, and Hilton hotels, as regional director of operations. Langevin first joined The Ritz-Carlton in 2001 as executive assistant manager of food and beverage at The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland, and went on to play an integral role in the opening of several Ritz-Carlton properties.

A native Parisian, Mr. Langevin speaks fluent English, French and German. He, his wife Pamela and their daughter reside in St. Thomas.

"I am pleased to be in the Caribbean and look forward to working with the wonderful ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas," said Mr. Langevin. "I plan to continue the success of this beautiful property as a world-class resort and play an active role in the community to help share the United States Virgin Island's rich multicultural heritage with the world," added Langevin.
