. October 14, 2008

ST. JOHN, USVI, July 30, 2007. Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort on St. John has announced the promotion of Nikolay Hotze to Managing Director. Trained in Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States - including at Acqualina, A Rosewood Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida - Hotze is responsible for leading and developing the management team at Caneel Bay, as well as representing the legendary Caribbean retreat within the Rosewood portfolio.

"Since joining Caneel Bay as Resort Manager last spring, Nikolay has revealed his expertise, professionalism and passion to do an outstanding job," said James McBride, Regional Vice President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "Rosewood has a long tradition of developing talent, and Nikolay is a superb example of successful leadership promoted from within. With his already admirable tenure at the resort and previously at Acqualina, Nikolay is the obvious choice to lead Caneel Bay past its 50th anniversary and to be a key player in the resort's future."

Hotze is no stranger to the renowned reputation of Rosewood, having spent the two-and-a-half years prior to his arrival at Caneel Bay as Hotel Manager of Acqualina. During the property's planning and construction phase, Acqualina's owners selected Hotze to assemble a top-flight management team, oversee 270 employees and arrange service contracts with third-party vendors.

Prior to joining the Rosewood family, Hotze held food and beverage management positions at several Miami-based properties, including Loews Hotel, Tides Hotel, Marlin Hotel and the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. He began his career in the hospitality industry in London with the Savoy Hotel Group.

A native of Germany, Hotze earned a degree in Hotel Administration from German Abitur in Kiel, Germany in 1994.

Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort has been an alluring escape for loyal guests since its founding 50 years ago by Laurance Rockefeller. Set on 170 acres in Virgin Islands National Park on the island of St. John, the resort's pristine natural surroundings and low-key luxury are its coveted signatures. One hundred and sixty-six charming guest rooms blend seamlessly into the landscape in close proximity to any of seven white-sand beaches that frame the resort. Four distinct restaurants and a private Wine Room offer an array of dining experiences and cuisine that honors the destination. Other amenities include The Self Centre, which is dedicated to nurturing the mind, body and spirit in addition to a fitness center, 11 tennis courts and Turtle Town, a dedicated facility just for kids.
