OHANA Begins Renovation with Guest Rooms

HONOLULU, HI, August 3, 2007. The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber has begun an expansive $12.1 million refurbishment of the hotel, with the first phase to include all 493 guest rooms that will transform the rooms into comfortable and beautiful spaces with interiors that offer a modern take on vintage

Hawaii d'ecor. Renovations started in July on the hotel's top floors in order to minimizeany inconvenience to guests. Newly renovated rooms will be ready foroccupancy in late 2007, with all the room renovations completed by February 2008.

As a Waikiki landmark known for hosting Don Ho's show in his final years,the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber's new room d'ecor is inspired by the Waikiki ofthe 1950s and 60s. After the transformation, guest rooms will have an open,airy feel with a more subtle color palette and tropical motif. The completeinterior remodel of the hotel's guest rooms features a rejuvenated look withmodern lines, neutral hues, sandstone accents, new carpeting, and lavishbedding - all designed to compliment the breathtaking Hawaiian landscapeoutside.

Each room's upgraded interior will feature new Alder and Cherry hardwoodfurniture with rich cocoa-colored finishes, soft lighting fromcustom-designed lamps, and flat-screen televisions. In the bathroom, granitecounters, custom hardwood cabinetry and tropical accessories provide anelegant feeling.

In addition, the rooms will feature island artwork. A starfish and nautilusshell framed by a woven shadow box will hang over the bed in each room. Theentryway will feature an art piece by Kerne Erickson called "Aloha Hawaii"in a bamboo frame that coordinates perfectly with furniture pieces, with asecond Erickson piece titled "Waikiki" within the room. Artwork by MarkBrown entitled "Kahanamoku Beach" will also grace the guestroom wall.

The bedspread pattern is a custom design that recalls the sea and featuresthe bright colors of Hawaii's flowers. New sand-hued plush carpets reflectWaikiki's beaches. Retro-style lamps will be accented in a dark teal-coloredacrylic to reflect the ocean.

In the bathroom, palm trees that reflect Hawaiian foliage will be printed onthe shower curtains and light fixtures will be complete with wave patternsand glass shades. The mirror frame will have dark wood finishes with atextured bamboo pattern.

Beginning August 26 through December 21, 2007, the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomberwill be offering a special renovation rate starting at $129 per room, pernight, subject to availability.
