Club Med Launches Diet Program

. October 14, 2008

AUGUST 21, 2007. The new Club Med Diet program helps guests take the first steps toward developing the reflexes necessary to maintain a healthy weight, enjoy gourmet foods and feel revitalized. By nature, Club Med's all-inclusive vacations offer the perfect alternative to the "gain a pound a day" getaways that leave travelers in a slump afterward.

"At Club Med, guests often compare their stay to a trip to Europe-- fresh, nutritious, correctly portioned menu items, lots of walking and numerous activities send them home a few pounds lighter," says Cedric Gobilliard, president and CEO North America. "The Club Med staff, the atmosphere, the cuisine and the variety of available activities help guests establish the routine they seek but have trouble integrating into daily life."

Upon check-in, enrolled guests will receive a special wrist band ensuring that they are easily identifiable to Club Med G.O.s and to other program participants-important influencers in providing encouragement and balance to guests as they lay the foundation for a new lifestyle. Each Club Med Diet participant will also receive a personalized kit including:

o Pedometer

Pedometers that display distance (in miles or kilometers) and calculate steps, distance, and calories burned. A reference showing recommended number of steps per day according to age, weight, and fitness level.

o Running/Walking Map

Club Med Columbus Isle is located on 89 acres of beachfront property. A running/walking map of the property will be offered to aid participants in scheduling and mapping group or individual walks and runs.

o Food Diary

Nutritionists worldwide suggest that people attempting to improve their eating habits keep a daily journal of food intake. The Club Med food diary allows guests to keep track of their food and drink consumption, activities, and approximate calories burned. It will also serve to remind them of dishes they have enjoyed while at Club Med and want to recreate at home.

o Healthy Eating Guide

A healthy eating guide will ensure that guests are able to navigate meals at Club Med with ease by providing portion size tips, nutritional information, and recommended choices.

o Healthy Recipes

Club Med will offer many of its signature recipes with nutritional information so guests can continue their new lifestyle once vacation has come to an end.

o Recommended Activity List

A complete list of Club Med activities such as windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, and volleyball, and a suggested routine will be given to guests as well as details regarding the average number of calories burned and which muscle group is targeted in each respective activity. Fitness G.O.s will also be available to recommend workout programs and training sessions based on the participant's age and fitness level.

The new Club Med Diet provides guests a structure to reap the benefits of these activities and healthy food choices while still enjoying daily doses of decadence. Throughout their stay, Club Med Diet participants will be encouraged to sample healthy items like baked grouper with herbs and citrus fruits, braised red snapper with cilantro and bean sprouts, and innovative fruit and vegetable salads. As part of their participation, they will receive a food and activities diary with daily recommendations. The diary allows guests to track the dishes they sampled and provides recipes to replicate their healthy eating patterns at home. Each day, participants can note how they learned to indulge responsibly.

"A glass of wine, a cocktail or a gourmet dessert is not off-limits in a healthy lifestyle," says Club Med Corporate Chef, Erik Peters, "However, the program will remind guests that a massage or a sunset sail can also be a form of indulgence that excites the senses. The key is balance."
