HORSHAM, PA, August 28, 2007. Early-bird registration for the 2nd Annual HR in HospitalityTM Conference (www.HRinHospitality.com), the premier event for hotel, restaurant and foodservice professionals in HR management, employment law and labor relations, is now open. The three-day event is scheduled for March 16-19, 2008, at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort.

The event is produced by Human Resource Executive(R) Magazine and developed and co-sponsored by Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations. HR in HospitalityTM also is endorsed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

"Human resource practices are at the center of competitive performance for hotels, restaurant and other foodservice organizations in the hospitality sector," said Harry Katz, Dean, Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Ithaca, N.Y. "The HR in HospitalityTM Conference has quickly become the foremost forum for practitioners to network and learn about the latest research findings from faculty of both of the Cornell schools, and to hear what's going on in other hospitality organizations from top executives."

Katz cited recruitment and retention as top HR problems that continue to plague the hospitality industry, along with the ongoing managerial talent war. Over the course of three days, attendees will learn how to better recruit service workers, motivate existing workers and managers, match pay with performance, match benefits to the needs of employees and business performance, and deal with immigration issues. Conflict resolution and other human resource and legal issues, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, also will be discussed.

"The 2007 HR in HospitalityTM Conference was an extremely successful first-time event, and moving forward we have incorporated valuable suggestions from attendees and faculty to make the 2008 conference even more valuable," Katz said, noting that union office employees, hospitality law attorneys, consultants and hospitality investors also are encouraged to attend. "We've kept the same basic structure, but altered the format to allow for more interactive sessions. This year we will feature more practitioners presenting information about what they are doing in their organizations-citing specific examples of what does and doesn't work."

The 2nd annual event expects to attract more than 550 attendees. In addition to the conference, the HR in HospitalityTM Expo Hall is open for two days and will feature more than 100 exhibitors. The expo is designed to further assist attendees through exposure to products and services related to: Benefits Administration, Compensation Systems & Services, Dependant Care Programs, Diversity Hiring/Compliance Training, Drug/Substance Abuse Testing, Employee Assistance Programs, Employee Communications, Enterprise HR Outsourcing & BPO & RPO, Foodservices, Health Benefits & HSAs, HR Consulting, HRO, HRIS & Web-based Services, Insurance, legal, Logo Wear & Uniforms, Payroll Software & Services, Payroll Screening and Assessment, Recruitment, Retirement & 401(K) Services, Safety & Security Services, Training, Wealth Benefits & Group Life, Disability & Workers' and more.
