Benchmark's Cheyenne Mountain Resort is Best "Good Neighbor"

Honored in Colorado by National Restaurant Association

. October 14, 2008

HOUSTON, TX, September 11, 2007. Benchmark Hospitality International has announced that Cheyenne Mountain Resort has been honored by the National Restaurant Association with the 2007 "Restaurant Neighbor Award" for the State of Colorado.

Through the annual Restaurant Neighbor Awards, the Washington, DC-based National Restaurant Association recognizes restaurants and properties with restaurants that have gone above and beyond in giving back to their local area through an outstanding community service program.

"It is extremely gratifying to be honored for the community service programs that are so important to Cheyenne Mountain Resort," said Benchmark's vice president and general manager Laura Neumann. "They have been shaped by Benchmark Hospitality International's forward-thinking concept of 'Hometown Hospitality - Caring for Our Communities' that the company introduced system-wide in 2004."

One of the social service organizations that Cheyenne Mountain Resort is committed to in their Caring for our Community outreach is Catholic Charities' local soup kitchen -- the Marian House. The program serves nearly 500 people each day and in doing so, depends on the good will of many. Twenty-five volunteers of all denominations join in daily to prepare and serve donated food in order to provide nutritious meals to families with children, single men and women, the elderly and a growing number of teens. Several times during the year, Cheyenne Mountain Resort employees contribute time and volunteer in the kitchen at Marian House, with the property contributing food and personal care items.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort will now compete with the 49 other state winners in the national competition. Four national winners will be announced in September in the following categories: small business, mid-size business, large business or national chain, and Cornerstone Humanitarian. The winners will receive $5,000 each to support their favorite charity or project.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort offers two restaurants: the Mountain View Restaurant offering superb buffets served daily and an award-winning Sunday Brunch, and the Pineview Restaurant situated on the edge of the golf course and featuring grilled steaks and seafood complemented by an international wine list. The resort also offers the Will Rogers Lounge overlooking the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Laura Neumann, vice president and general manager of Cheyenne Mountain Resort and the Colorado Springs Brownie Troop 97 leader, is joined in resort's kitchen by her troop to bake and hand decorate 30 dozen cookies for the children of Marian House.
