AUSTIN, TX, September 11, 2007, The legendary Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas recently was invited to join the prestigious hotel collection, Associated Luxury Hotels International. With more than 20 years of professional meeting service experience, Associated Luxury Hotels holds a worldwide membership of more than 100 luxury Four and Five Diamond/Star hotels and resorts across the globe for all types of meeting programs.

The Driskill's partnership with Associated Luxury Hotels will allow them to easily access an industry advisory council that includes some of the most respected meeting planners in the United States. It also will expand their sales network across the country and give them the ability to participate in cooperative marketing programs that will expand their reach beyond the Southwest. The Driskill also will have the opportunity to participate in Associated Luxury Hotels industry events.

The 189-room Driskill Hotel is home to the five-star Driskill Grill restaurant as rated by the Austin American-Statesman; the bustling 1886 Caf'e and Bakery noted by the 2007 Zagat Survey as featuring Austin's Best New American Cuisine; the quintessential Texas-style lobby lounge; along with a state of the art fitness studio and massage treatment rooms. The property offers more than 18,080 square feet of meeting and function space including the new Victorian Room located on the historic side of the hotel at the corner of 6th and Brazos; a space that dates back to 1886. This historic space has been the site of Austin's first bank and television station. Today, it can host up to 190 guests for meetings, receptions and special events.

Built in 1886, the Driskill has been renovated numerous times over the years including a $35 million restoration in 2000 adding modern luxuries and repositioning the property as a high quality, top-rated hotel. The hotel originally was developed by a successful cattle rancher, Jesse Driskill, who envisioned a luxurious grand hotel to serve the Texas state capitol. Over the years, The Driskill has hosted inaugural balls for many Texas Governor and lavish events for international dignitaries. It was a favorite of President Lyndon Johnson who held many election night events at The Driskill and where he took the future Lady Bird Johnson on their first date.
