o Marina Hotel, Kuwait, is the best performing WORLDHOTELS property worldwide

o 'Mystery shoppers' tested over 500 member hotels

o Performing Excellence Programme includes 1,692 evaluation criteria to maintain high quality standards of WORLDHOTELS

It's official: The Marina Hotel Kuwait in Kuwait City is the best performing hotel in the WORLDHOTELS portfolio. For the first time, the hotel group, consisting of independent properties and regional brands worldwide, has recognized the highest achievers in its annual WORLDHOTELS quality checks. As part of the 'Performing Excellence Programme' anonymous testers, so-called 'mystery shoppers', evaluate up to 1,692 different criteria during their stays. The objective of the programme is to ensure outstanding hotel quality and travel experiences for guests.

The thorough assessment includes all elements which contribute to a pleasant stay. At the reception desk, for example, the testers evaluate staff's service skills and the overall atmosphere taking into account details such as flower arrangements and indoor temperature. The check list for the guest rooms ranges from the first impression to the bathroom toiletries. Even country-specific characteristics are taken into consideration, in the Arab region the testers inspect whether the room indicates the direction of Mecca. During the culinary experience inspection, the mystery shoppers evaluate both, objective criteria such as the choice offered on the wine list, as well as giving their individual opinion on the restaurant's ambiance.

The luxurious Marina Hotel Kuwait, where every room has a spectacular coastline view, achieved the best Performing Excellence results worldwide. At the same time, this property won the award for being the best scoring hotel in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Honourable mentions in this region are the stylish Ku' Damm 101 Hotel in Berlin and the famous landmark property Grand Hotel Vesuvio with its spectacular view on the Mediterranean Sea and the Vesuvius. In the Americas, WORLDHOTELS awarded the Graves|601 Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a sophisticated property with modern luxury. Other high scoring hotels are the Palm Beach Shores Resort & Vacation Villas and the Ocean Sands Resort and Spa in Florida. Group winner in Asia-Pacific is The Eton Hotel, a modern top-level business property in the Chinese city of Shanghai. Further top-hotels of this region are the luxurious Goodwood Park Hotel in Singapore and The Royal Garden in Hong Kong with its beautiful 110-foot-high garden atrium.

The hotel tests are conducted by IFH(R) AG, a Frankfurt-based leading company in quality assurance programmes and trainings for the hotel industry. The assessment of the hotels takes into consideration local characteristics, as well as internationally established hospitality standards, and criteria for the three distinct WORLDHOTELS collections - Deluxe, First Class and Comfort.
