Intercontinental Appoints GM of Paris Le Grand

OCTOBER 4, 2007. The InterContinental Paris Le Grand announces the appointment of Julien Debarle to the position of General Manager of the iconic property, set in the heart of Paris. Debarle, 35, is now responsible for the operational management of this luxurious hotel, consisting of 470 rooms and its famous restaurant, the Caf'e de la Paix, and will concentrate on ensuring a high standard of service and excellent financial performance.

A graduate of the Ecole des arts culinaires et de l'h^otellerie in Lyons and the Henley Management College in London, Julien Debarle previously served as the General Manager of the InterContinental Miami for two years. As Manager of this hotel, with its 641 rooms, more than 65,000 square feet of banqueting facilities and three restaurants, his main focus was to reposition it in the luxury hotel market.

A member of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts team for 11 years, Julien Debarle had previously he served as General Manager of the InterContinental Hotel & Conference Center in Cleveland for two years, where one of his accomplishments was to open this new hotel with 300 rooms and three restaurants. It gained the "Four Diamond" rating from the American Automobile Association (A.A.A.) during their first year of operation.

Appointed Regional Director of Food and Beverage of InterContinental for the entire eastern region of the United States in January 2001, Debarle supervised nine of the group's hotels until February 2003: five Crowne Plaza and four InterContinental, including New York's InterContinental The Barclay.

As Executive Assistant Manager of the InterContinental Mexico Presidente from December 1998 to January 2001, he opened two thematic restaurants in this 659-room hotel (Au Pied de Cochon and The Palm). Prior to this position, he was Assistant Food and Beverage Manager of the InterContinental Cali (Colombia) from August 1996 to May 1998, and then the InterContinental Tamanaco (Venezuela) from May to December 1998.

Julien Debarle succeeds Lars Wagner as General Manager of the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. As head of the latter since April 2005, Didier Boidin continues to be the Managing Director of the hotel and is responsible for all the InterContinental hotels in the France and Mediterranean region.

Julien Debarle, who was born in Paris, is married and has two children.
