WASHINGTON, DC, September 2, 2005. The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The donation is coming directly from ARDA's Trustee Member Companies, comprising the leading companies in the timeshare industry, including some of the nation's most recognized brands in hospitality, travel, and resort development.

"The entire vacation ownership industry is deeply saddened by the tragedy in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and we hope that our contribution can help ease the suffering of these victims," said Howard Nusbaum, president and chief executive officer of ARDA. "Our Trustee Members were planning a conference this fall in New Orleans. In lieu of moving the conference, we are using those funds to contribute to Hurricane Katrina relief."

Nusbaum went on to add that many ARDA member companies have both employees and resorts that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina. "This tragedy affects every American and every industry. We will continue to monitor the situation and look to ways in which we as an industry can help, particularly helping our friends in the travel and tourism industry get back on their feet."
