SAPV&BVB Announces 2008 Media Tour Schedule

. October 14, 2008

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL, October 31, 2007. In 2008, the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau will host three all inclusive tours for travel writers and broadcasters. Always popular with the travel media, this year's tours will focus on the destination's art and luxury, personality profiles that distinguish the destination, and the rich Hispanic heritage of the nation's oldest city.

Art and Luxury Tour -- February 4-8, 2008

From the famous bird depictions of Audubon and the delicate stained-glass creations of Tiffany to the thriving art community of today, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra continue to support a talented and thriving arts scene. This tour will explore local art history, the destination's dynamic art district and the artists who are inspired by this unique Florida destination. In addition, luxury experiences will be emphasized including new spas, fine dining, upscale accommodations, the San Sebastian Winery, designer chocolates and even a night at the theatre.

The People Tour -- May 19-23, 2008

Eclectic, artistic, nature lovers, living anachronisms - these are just some of the terms that could be applied to the people who daily share their lives with visitors to St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches. This tour takes a different slant by telling the destination's story through the words of the people who make it such a popular and fascinating place to visit. The ancient seaside city of St. Augustine and the beachfront splendor of Ponte Vedra provide the perfect backdrop for a wide variety of potential personality features that capture the flavor of a place that is sometimes frozen in time, sometimes on the cutting-edge and always interesting. Did you ever interview a pirate? This might just be your chance.

La Herencia Tour -- July 31- August 3, 2008

St. Augustine was part of the Empire of Spain for far longer than it has been part of the United States. The Castillo de San Marcos built in 1672 remains the city's most-visited site while the Colonial Spanish Quarter makes the year 1740 come alive for visitors. Much older than the first English settlement at Jamestown, this is where European culture first took lasting root in what would become the United States. Hispanic heritage has thrived here every day since September 8, 1565 and tour participants will experience the flavors, sounds and sights that serve to remind visitors of the Spanish flair of the oldest city's storied past.

Each tour is limited to 8 writers or broadcasters. Participants will be selected on the basis of how effectively their current media outlets match the destination's overall marketing goals. Applicants with verified assignments will be given priority in the selection process.
