Mohegan Sun Welcomes New SVP & CFO

NOVEMBER 5, 2007. Mohegan Sun hires Gary Van Hettinga as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Van Hettinga has over two decades of experience in the Las Vegas and Atlantic City gaming industries. In his new role at Mohegan Sun, Van Hettinga is responsible for administering the property level accounting, strategic planning and analysis, casino cashiering and credit functions.

Prior to joining Mohegan Sun, Van Hettinga served as President and General Manager of Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. He previously held the positions of Senior Vice President of Slot Marketing/Operations and Senior Vice President of Finance at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City.

Van Hettinga currently is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Finance from the Richard Stockton State College of New Jersey.

Currently in the midst of Project Horizon - a multi-million dollar expansion that calls for a new 1,000-room hotel, featuring 300 House of Blues-themed rooms and an exclusive members-only House of Blues Foundation RoomTM. The expansion also includes 115,000 square feet of additional retail and restaurant space, and a new 64,000 square-foot "Casino of the Wind." In addition, Project Horizon expands Mohegan Sun's Asian gaming experience in Casino of the Earth with the opening of Sunrise Square in August 2007. Upon full completion in 2010, Project Horizon is expected to add more than 1.4 million square feet to Mohegan Sun's existing structure.
