Roger Ohlsson Joins Capella Castlemartyr as Executive Chef

COUNTY CORK, Ireland, November 29, 2007. Esteemed chef Roger Ohlsson has been named Executive Chef at Capella Castlemartyr in County Cork, Ireland. Ohlsson is responsible for the creation and execution of all menu concept and development at the new hotel, Capella Hotels and Resorts' first in Ireland.

Ohlsson's classic training and creativity are on full display at each of the hotel's dining outlets, particularly Bell Tower, Capella Castlemartyr's fine dining room. There, menu items are updated seasonally to incorporate the freshest ingredients from the estate's herb garden, local farmer's markets and those grown exclusively for the hotel by the region's finest purveyors. Ohlsson's talents are also showcased at the Spa Caf'e, which serves healthful cuisine as an extension of the guest's Auriga spa therapy, and at the sun-filled Garden Room, which serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Ohlsson began his culinary career in 1995 as chef de partie at Restaurant Aubergine in Stockholm, Sweden, where he had the opportunity to learn from noted visiting chefs including the Troisgros Brothers and Michel Laurent. In 1997, he moved to London where he served as chef de partie at The Savoy Grill, The Square and Gordon Ramsey's L'Orangerie. Ohlsson later had the rare privilege to study in weekly and monthly intervals under several of London's finest chefs including Chef Henry Harris of Racine, Chef Pierre Koffman of La Tante Claire and Chef Eric Chavot Fulham of Capitol Hotel. Ohlsson joins Capella Castlemartyr after nine years at London's Pied a Terre restaurant, where he quickly advanced from head pastry chef to senior sous chef, and was instrumental in earning the establishment its coveted two-star Michelin rating.

Ohlsson resides in County Cork with his partner and two children.
