Rocky Mountaineer Vacations Among the Best Employers in Canada

. October 14, 2008

JANUARY 2, 2008. Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, owners and operators of the world-acclaimed Rocky Mountaineer train, is proud to announce that the organization has ranked 25th on the annual Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine/Hewitt Associates' 50 Best Employers in Canada in 2008. Rocky Mountaineer Vacations has made the 50 Best Employers in Canada list for the second consecutive year and the sustained placement is a reflection of the company's enduring commitment to being an employer of choice.

"Ranking as one of Canada's 50 Best Employers demonstrates that employees have faith in the principles behind our organization," says Randy Powell, President of Rocky Mountaineer Vacations. "It shows we are doing a good job at presenting our corporate strategy clearly and consistently and employees are engaged and care about the future of our company."

The results were based on companies completing confidential opinion surveys in three main areas: Employee Opinion, Leadership Team and Human Resources. As well, the majority of the ranking is a direct result of employee feedback or high employee engagement - gauging the emotional and intellectual commitment employees demonstrate for the organization for which they work.

According to Hewitt Associates the 50 Best Employers in Canada have lower turnover, receive more applications for job openings and experience better business results. Hewitt also examined how closely employees' and leaders' goals are aligned, and whether workplace practices and programs reinforce corporate vision. The Best Employers ranking has become a recognized Canadian and international business award.

Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, owned and operated by Armstrong Group, offers year-round vacation packages to the most unique regions of Canada and four spectacular rail routes through British Columbia and Alberta. Since its inception in 1990, the company has grown to become the largest privately owned passenger rail service in North America and will host its one millionth guest in 2008. Tourism industry leaders have credited the organization for setting a new bar in guest service excellence, and Armstrong Group has recently achieved accolades for its leadership on sustainable tourism development (Tourism BC's Foresight Award, 2007). In 2007, RMV was honoured with a World Travel Award as "World's Leading Travel Experience by Train" for the third consecutive year. Armstrong Group, one of Canada's leading tourism providers also owns Gray Line West motorcoach operations in Banff, Alberta and Victoria, British Columbia.
