Salamander Hotels & Resorts Appoints Kim DeOrsey Director of the Salamander Spa for Henderson Beach Resort

DESTIN, FL. September 19, 2016 — Salamander Hotels & Resorts, the luxury hotel management company founded by Sheila C. Johnson, has appointed Kim DeOrsey as the spa director at Henderson Beach Resort.
The resort, which is anchored by a spectacular 170-room hotel named The Henderson, a Salamander Beach & Spa Resort, is slated to open in Destin, Florida late in 2016.
During the span of her illustrious two-decade career as a spa and wellness executive expert, Kimberly DeOrsey has held leadership roles at many premier resort spas in the U.S. including PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Boca Raton Resort and Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort; The Spa at The Atlantic Hotel (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.); The Spa at The Tesoro Club (Port St. Lucie, Fla.); The Spa at The International Polo Club (Wellington, Fla.); The Spa at Mar-A-Lago Club (Palm Beach, Fla.); The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa (Dana Point, Calif.); Westin Diplomat Country Club & Spa (Hollywood, Fla. and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa (Farmington, Pa.). She most recently managed the spa and wellness program for The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach, Fla., having opened their $33 million capital improvement project. Prior to joining Ibis, DeOrsey opened The Omphoy Ocean Resort & Spa in Palm Beach, Fla., which readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine voted No. 1 Resort Spa in the United States (2012).
DeOrsey possesses the formidable combination of intuitive leadership skills, business acumen and award-winning spa and wellness experience. She is admired for her commitment to integrating cutting-edge holistic treatments into the spa environment, for always putting the guests first also with an unrelenting commitment to profitability.
In addition to her hands-on leadership, DeOrsey has served on the Starwood North American Spa Council and provided Spa Advisory Task Force guidance for several luxury hotel companies. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Recreation and Facility Management with a minor in Advertising. She is an active member of ISPA (International Spa Association), as well as the Florida Spa Association (FSA) and Club Spa Fitness Association (CFSA) professional organizations.
In her role, DeOrsey will oversee the spa, fitness, recreation and retail operations for Henderson Beach Resort. She is relocating her family from Jupiter, Fla. to Destin, Fla. for this job role in August.
