Southern California Luxury Resort Welcomes New Group Sales Director and Sommelier
SAN DIEGO, CA. March 21, 2016 - A Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond resort, Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa is proud to expand its team with new Regional Group Sales Director, Karin Cohen, and new Sommelier, Dan Chapman. Cohen brings more than 27 years of experience in luxury hospitality and Chapman brings 17 years of wine expertise to the five-star resort.

As Regional Group Sales Director, Cohen will help oversee and manage the principal markets of the Eastern Seaboard as well as focus on achieving regional sales objectives. Prior to joining Rancho Valencia, Cohen served as regional director of sales at Regent Hotels & Resorts where she was responsible for managing and promoting the relationships with Fine Hotel & Resorts, Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network and Ensemble Travel Network. Cohen also served as director of business development for Shangri-LA Hotels & Resorts where she held the position of promoting and selling 65 hotel properties in various markets. Most recently, Cohen held a dual role as New York office managing director and regional director of sales for Connect Worldwide.
At Rancho Valencia, Chapman will supervise all aspects of the resort's profound wine program, working alongside Rancho Valencia's Director of Restaurants, Simon Harris, to hand-select wines for the onsite restaurants, The Pony Room and Veladora. Chapman will also be responsible for managing the resort's ongoing wine dinners with esteemed wineries, in addition to special and private events at the property. Chapman has obtained a certification as an Advanced Sommelier at the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2006, as well as a Certified Specialist of Wine at the Society of Wine Educators in 2005. Throughout his career, Chapman has overseen the wine program at notable San Diego destinations including Four Seasons Resort Aviara, The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and George's at the Cove.
