DETROIT, MI. November 4, 2015 - The latest story in the reinvigoration of the all-American city Detroit, Michigan, is that of the new Trumbull and Porter hotel. Trumbull and Porter is the reinvention of one of the city's most beloved Detroit hotels, the Corktown Inn, which began life as Detroit's Holiday Inn at the height of the popularity of the family road trip in the late 1960s. It moved from the Holiday Inn brand to become a boutique hotel with a name that paid homage to the Irish-settled area near downtown called Corktown. Soon thereafter it became known as the Corktown Hotel. Today it is again on the edge of a country-wide movement as hard-working cities like Detroit regain their past glory through an admirable dedication to the city and a cooperative community spirit.

The 144-room Trumbull and Porter was purchased by an investor in Los Angeles who felt a deep connection to Detroit. The hotel will have a soft launch in January 2016 and its official grand opening will soon follow. The renovation will touch all aspects of the hotel including guest rooms, drinks and dining, fitness center and outdoor space. A spacious fitness center with an incredible city view will help guests keep active. A beer garden, courtyard music venue, a private dining room (the Steak Room), and meeting space for smaller events will round out the hotel's offerings. You won't find anything "run of the mill" here. From the original mural created by celebrated Corktown artist Don Kilpatrick prominently above the porte cochere to the words of beloved Detroit poet David Blair on display in the lobby, this hotel will truly be one-of-a-kind.

The new Trumbull and Porter is the latest Detroit hotel to renovate. It is fully embracing the unofficial motto of the city, to rebuild using the best contractors, artists, designers, staff, hard and soft goods suppliers, and more that Detroit has to offer. Nearly all the work and supplies for the $9 million project are being sourced in Detroit. The hotel's management is creating partnerships between other area businesses as well. For example, hotel bikes are in production using Detroit's premier bicycle manufacturer, Detroit Bikes. The bicycles will feature the Trumbull and Porter logo and will be available for guest use. Because the hotel is so close to area attractions such as Ford Stadium, Joe Louis Arena, Comerica Park, Detroit Riverwalk, Quicken Loans headquarters, Mexicantown and Greektown, bikes are a convenient and earth-friendly form of transportation. The hotel has also partnered with Anthology Coffee and Batch Brewing Company to provide the best coffee and craft beer made in Detroit to its guests. The hotel's new look is by local design company Patrick Thompson Design. All aspects of the hotel's digital marketing are being handled by Incite Response.

Behind the Trumbull and Porter hotel is a courtyard that will find new life as a music and art venue. City residents and visitors will be able to enjoy local bands in warm weather months in a casual lawn setting at the hotel. Soon after the January launch of the hotel, the full-service Red Dunn restaurant and Burroughs Lounge will open, serving the area's best food and drink.
